Walking in High Heels with Balance

November 27, 2009 · Leave a Comment

“‘Balance is the most important aspect of creating a 115-millimeter heel. To achieve it, I use a compass, a ruler, my eyes and my hands.’ Some designers now use a CAD, or computer-assisted design, system in their work but Mr. Blahnik said he would rather do everything himself — ‘I am a traditionalist.” ~Manolo Blahnik

Women must admit that wearing high heels is not that easy. Imagine walking on your 4 inches high Manolo Blahniks or YSL shoes, aren’t your feet aching? Yes for sure. However, despite the painful downfalls of the so called high heel’s structure, a bit of science helps as that goes into the design just in order to make the shoe work.

In order to determine, a good balance must be achieved when making shoes. There must be a reinforced shank must be perfectly placed and angled in order to evenly distribute weight. Well known designers seem to all have their own different ideas when making shoes and also its proportions. For example, Manolo Blahnik caps off his stiletto height for about 4.5 inches however 160 millimeters, a little more than six inches.

Walking in heels might be hard, but what can you say when many women still loves wearing them?

Barbie2

Ever famous shoe designer Christian Louboutin is not a fan of Barbie at all an even said that Barbie’s ankles were “too fat” for his coveted kicks. Barbie who turned 50 this year, and by all accounts she still got the body of a teenager and in fashion is calling Barbie’s physique into question. French shoe designer Christian Louboutin, known for his high heels stiletto and red sole trademark, is now reportedly taking on an 11 1/2-inch doll and even saying that Barbie needs a little work, before she can get into a pair of his shoes.

It has been reported that Louboutin will set out to release three dolls donning his legendary red-soled shoes and Barbie didn’t make the cut. The dolls, which are set to come with a tiny Louboutin box are distinguished by their slightly, slimmer ankles. And unlike Barbie and her “fat” ones, Louboutins spokeswoman said simply, “He found her ankles were too fat.”

“She really doesn’t have a full curve to the calf and it goes straight down to the ankle,” said Dr. Michelle Copeland, a Board-certified plastic surgeon, whose specialty is cankles. “In Barbie’s situation there might be something that on the inner side that we might be able to improve, but Barbie looks pretty good.”

If only Barbie could hear what Louboutin said, it will surely be a slap on her face! Ouch!

If only she’s a real person…
